The Current Justification Controversy
Conservative American churches have been subverted and divided by new theological perspectives and paradigms that pervert and deny the Gospel of justification by faith alone.
In this volume, Dr. O. Palmer Robertson details the history of the doctrinal controversy that convulsed Westminster Theological Seminary and one Presbytery in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church from 1975 to 1982. Dr. Robertson was a participant in this controversy, serving on the Faculty of Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia when it began, and on the Faculty of Covenant Seminary in St. Louis when it subsided.
Originally written in 1983, The Current Justification Controversy was barred from the pages of Presbyterion, the theological journal of Covenant Seminary, by the Faculty of that Seminary. They feared offending the Faculty of Westminster Seminary, which taught and continues to defend doctrines that are contrary to Scripture.
In A Companion to this book, Dr. John W. Robbins provides more background information on the origins and consequences of this controversy, and the texts of several documents referred to in The Current Justification Controversy.
