Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon to the Old Testament Scriptures: Numerically Coded to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, with an English Index of More Than 12,000 Entries
How can one with limited or no knowledge of Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic (the languages in which the Bible was originally written) use a Greek-English or Hebrew-Chaldee (Aramaic) lexicon or concordance?
First, begin with Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, which was designed for those who do not know these languages. Look up in the concordance any word in the King James Version of the Bible, determine its code number, then locate the code number in the Hebrew or Greek dictionary in the back of the concordance and read the definition of the word that lies behind the English word.
The dictionaries in Strong's are not exhaustive. However, that problem has been alleviated by placing in the margins of classic Hebrew and Greek lexicons, concordances, and a synonym collection the code number assigned by Strong. No longer does one have to depend on Strong's brief definitions. The code number allows direct access to the same dictionaries and other reference works formerly used only by Hebrew and Greek scholars. Even for those who know no Greek or Hebrew, there are limitless possibilities for accurate, thorough, and fruitful word studies.
