In Town: Contemporary Design for Urban Living
For over two and a half decades, as the founding director and creative force behind Designers Guild, Tricia Guild has been at the cutting edge of contemporary interior design. Her innate ability to mix vibrant colour and pattern and her imaginative use of modern arts and crafts translates particularly well to the challenges of city living. A passionate urbanite, who flies frequently between the world's cities, she rejoices in the rich visual stimulation and dynamic energy of the city, using it as inspiration for the decoration of her own new home in London's Holland Park. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Art, has sat on the Crafts Council and has published five other books on aspects of contemporary design.
Elspeth Thompson has been writing about architecture and design for over ten years. She is a former features editor of The World of Interiors, has contributed regularly to Elle Decoration U.K., The Observer and other national newspapers, and is now associate editor of the Sunday Telegraph Magazine. She lives in central London.
Gilles de Chabaneix is a widely published, inter- nationally renowned photographer who specializes in interiors, still life and landscape photography. His work appears in magazines in France, England and the U.S. and his most recent books include Japanese Style and Tricia Guild's Painted Country. He is based in Paris.
